Saturday Sept. 2

The sun was finally out today, my youngest son Kaleb had two football games. Not much time for painting , I did manage to sketch out the four canvases I had stretched Thursday. The chimnea group is going to the Riverfront Blues Festival this evening. Will try to get some studio time this afternoon. Looks like I won't finish a painting today.

Hi, I paint a painting a day and I saw your comments. It is difficult to paint a painting a day but you definately cannot do it if doing so places too much pressure upon you. The key is the size. The size has to be very small. The paintings tend not to have lots of detail, In my case, everything has to be set up and left out, ready to go, paper, paint etc. This way I can go about my business and when there is a break, immediately go to the set up area which is left out waiting for me. Paint for an hour, say 95 percent of the painting and leave it. Then later, details or touch up can be completed, usually in less than an hour. I pick subjects as you mentioned(parking meter would be excellent) simple one item stil lifes or loose landscapes. Sometimes they work out better than others. I usually (as now)also have a full sheet water color painting on going which I leave out on an easal. This painting, I take as much time as I need or want. Your paintings are very detailed so I would think you would need to only use one of the objects in the paintings rather then a complete composition. I have been using the one object idea when I need to work out one part of a paintig, such was the case of the tulip, or the water pitchure, both of these are going to be used as part of larger paintings. Since you have so much prep work,(which I do not have) you may consider an analternate method for the smaller paintings.

also: I am putting up links if you would like, I would be glad to put a link to your blog on my blog. Shanti Marie
