A Day of Sorrow

Today is the last day of summer for The Woman - She has to return to her class tomorrow and gone are the days when I come home and lunch is waiting on the counter and she says's - "Meet me in the pool when your done"

The really sad part is that this definitely the downhill side of summer - The days are getting shorter - soon the temperature will drop so low at night I'll be forced to close the pool ( No - I haven't made enough money this summer to get the gas pool heater that I covet) Friends will stop coming by on the weekends and then comes the long cold winter.

But - I do have lots of cool ideas to tackle this winter when I have nothing to do but work - so I guess I'll survive.

And that pool bunny that sets out my lunch will have next summer off and I'll have that to look forward to!

Blazen Hot!!

I don't know if there is any truth to this global warming thing but here lately you wouldn't have to try too hard to convince Mid-westerners that it is happening.

This summer has been a scorcher - It seems that it is always 90% humidity and over 90 degrees every day - Thank goodness for the pool!! ( Even though when I got back from New York and checked on the pool the temperature was well over 90 degrees - not good for a refreshing dip - I like it in the low to mid 80's)

The only good part is that my studio is in the air conditioned house! Since I will be staying in there for most of my time the rest of the summer - burn baby burn!

Finished Secret Painting

After the New York trip I did manage to get in the studio a little and finish the secret painting that I've been working on - This one won't be out at a show until the Peoria Riverfront show on September 25th and 26th - Hopefully by them I can also finish at least one other in this new format. It will be difficult to squeeze them in as I have started the three commission pieces for the new Lincoln Hospital - also not really at liberty to discuss the subject matter.

So with three outdoor shows in August and three paintings to finish - it is going to be a hectic end of summer - Well they say you have to make hay while the sun is shining !
