Nice Weekend
Got a lot done on "Moon River" should finish by Tuesday( don't hold me to that) And yes I did have some paintings at the re-opening of Monroe Street Gallery - sorry I did not take my camera, or invite any friends. It's OK though, it was sort of slow as the opening of the Hungarian artist was at the Art Guild the same evening, we did get some carry over, but not much. It was a pretty slow night. Constance and Jennifer did a wonderful job reorganizing the gallery and getting it together for the evening.

Life is hectic !
Sorry for the delay in posting over the last week, sometimes the day to day things that we are involved in seem to not leave much time for painting or blogging. The weekend is upon me, and I have nothing really on my plate but to finish "Moon River" for the museum fence downtown. The Woman and I do have to attend a gallery opening tonight at the Monroe Street Gallery. It will be interesting because it is the first showing of these small paintings, you never know someone may like them.
This past week I was fortunate enough to attend the Governor's Cup banquet in Springfield as a part of the East Peoria group as we won for the Eagle Landing Show in 2005. So have a great weekend to anyone that is reading this and hopefully I will have photos of the opening and the new painting on the fence early next week.

Well not so fast

As The Woman informs me that although I have finished a few of the items on my "honey do" list, not to get to relaxed because the list is still not complete. ( the list is on the refrigerator dry erase board) She is insisting that I have nothing to do tonight but paint, but I think I might knock another item off the list and take apart the pool filter before we plunge into the deep freeze over the next few evenings. I still should be able to "The Times" which is a series of buildings in the large metropolis of Delevan( Morgan Elser should like this one)

Works done again

Well the roof is on and just in time, cold front is coming and that means rain. Hope I did it right so it doesn't leak. I might get to finish "The Times" tonight since my home maintenance tasks are over. Sorry there hasn't been as many images of late, by a guys got to do what a guys got to do. And this last four days that has meant that I have fixed the front fender of The Woman's car, unclogged two drains ( kitchen sink and the jacuzzi tub ), and put on fourteen square of fake shack roofing. Thank goodness for my good buddy Tom Walker.

Looks like a busy weekend

Well the weather outside is beautiful, so The Woman has decided it would be a great time to put on a new roof. I have been putting it off for at least two years and I have to agree that it is well past time for a new one. Looks like I have to strap on the old workbelt and just get it done before another winter takes its toll. I won't be painting this weekend either but at least the roof will be done and I'll have the whole winter to catch up. So tune in around Wednesday for "The Times" the last of the 8" x 24" paintings until I finish the two large paintings "Moon River" and "US Cellular". That is if I manage to not hit my fingers with a hammer.

City Council
Went to the City Council meeting the other evening, not too exciting. Although our city won the Governor's Home Town Award and an Illinois Art Friendly Community Award for the Eagle Landing Show the Mayor seeming unimpressed. I took the opportunity to take my best friend out to dinner and then went home to start "The Times" , after two evenings it is nearly finished. Should have the image tomorrow and then I have to start some large paintings. "Moon River" a Peoria cityscape for the Lakeview Museum project and "US Cellular Field" the White Sox Stadium .

Illinois Art League

Last night was the monthly board meeting of the Illinois Art League, it was at least eventful in that they OK'd the proposed budget for Eagle Landing. Linda Wilmot mentioned she had checked out the blog for more paintings but hadn't seen any lately so I went home and finished "Eastern Beef" and started "The Times" . I have to go to the East Peoria City Council meeting tonight so I hope to get back on it after.
Hope you enjoy this, it is more of my traditional cityscape style, I use that term loosely.

The new couple Tom & Charlie Duncan are doing well back in Des Moines after a whirlwind weekend. They will be leaving Monday for their honeymoon cruise. To everyone that attended , thank you for a wonderful weekend. From Friday night rehersal to Sunday brunch with friends and family the wedding weekend was a beautiful event, the weather was fantastic, the bride was beautiful, and the groom was handsome. I have included some photos that I managed to take of the bride and her family , sorry I didn't get any of the groom or myself. You will have to wait for the professional pictures for those. The Woman and I did manage to get to the Peoria Art Guild Fine Art Fair on the riverfront this weekend. And also to Kaleb's football game on Sunday afternoon. Sorry I did not get to paint this weekend, because my presence was needed elsewhere.
